Rivers Students Studying In UK Protest Over Their Scholarship.

Some of the students have graduated but were not given certificates because they are still owing their schools.

Rivers State students studying in the United Kingdom are reportedly stranded as the state government allegedly refuse to fund their scholarship.

The students who are on Rivers State Government Scholarship protested in London on Monday, November 6, at Chatham House where the state Governor, Nyesom Wike was delivering a speech on his administration’s performance.

Some of the students carried placards with inscriptions such as “Where is our school fees”; ‘‘This is no political propaganda” and so on approached the Governor after his speech.

The students’ encounter with the governor was captured in a video Published on Twitter by Sahara Reporters.

The Governor who appeared angry told the students that their protest would not win them sympathy.

“I have passed this stage, by the time you do this, you won’t get whatever you want.”

One of the students who tried to explain their situation to the students was shut up by the governor.

“Hey, keep quiet,” the governor responded quickly. “Somebody has spoken on your behalf there”

He, therefore, directed the protesting students to meet the person who spoke on their behalf and thereafter walked away.
