Nigerian Law School Recruitment 2017… The Nigerian Law School is an educational institution set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria by the Legal Education Act of 1962.

This establishment was a necessity to solve the existing issues of providing practical training for aspiring Legal Practitioners in Nigeria and to provide a Nigerian legal education to foreign-trained lawyers. This is because, before establishment, legal practitioners in Nigeria had received the basic training in England and had been called to the English Bar.

The Nigerian Law School began officially in 1963 at No. 213A Igbosere road, Lagos, moving to Victoria Island, Lagos in 1969 and moved to Abuja in 1997. In 1997, the Federal Government approved the Council’s proposal to establish three campuses of the Law School in Lagos, Kano and Enugu, and even more recently in 2009 approved the establishment of two new campuses in Yola, Adamawa State and Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The Nigerian Law School employs applicants from all works of life to apply for different vacant opportunities except lecturers; you need to have studied Law to qualify to apply for a lecturer position. The vacancies include;

  • A Lecturer
  • Librarian
  • Medical Doctor
  • Executive Officer
  • Lecturer II
  • Nurse
  • Civil Engineer

Requirements for the position of a Civil Engineer II (CONTISS 7)

  • Applicants must possess good honors degree in Civil Engineering not below Second Class Lower Division (2.2) from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 3 years cognate work experience is required.

Requirement Nurse – CONHESS 07

  • Applicants must possess NRN and NRM Certificate plus registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and a valid practicing license.

Requirements to work as an executive officer

MIN REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Not Specified

MIN QUALIFICATION: Bachelor’s Degree/HND

DESIRED COURSES: Not Specified

Educational Requirements:

  • Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Lower Credit in Public Administration or other relevant field, from a recognized institution as well as SSCE Certificate with 5 credits including English Language at not more than 2 sittings.

Requirements to apply as a Medical Doctor

  • Applicants must possess MBBS with full registration with relevant medical professional body

Requirements for applicants applying as Lecturer I

  • Applicants must possess a good honors degree in Law not below Second Class Lower Division (2.2) from a recognized university.
  • Qualifying certificate from Nigerian law School and a Masters Degree in Law.
  • A minimum of 3 years of active Legal practice and or teaching and relevant research is also required.
  • Evidence of academic publication will be an advantage.

MIN QUALIFICATION: Not Specified

DESIRED COURSES: Not Specified

Requirements to apply as a Librarian

  • Applicants must possess a good honors degree in Library Science or its equivalent not below Second Class Lower (2.2)

Requirements for Lecturer II – CONUASS 03

  • Applicants must possess a good honours degree in Law not below Second Class Lower division (2:2) from a recognized University, the qualifying Certificate from the Nigerian Law School and a Master of Laws degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of active legal practice and relevant research.
  • Evidence of academic publication will be an advantage.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

  • Appointment will be full time and pensionable, subject to probationary period of two years, after which upon satisfactory work and conduct, the appointment may be confirmed.
  • Other conditions of service are similar to those existing in Nigerian Universities and as may be prescribed from time to time by the Council of Legal Education.
